A First Look at Tonalità Viva: Milan’s Color Mood, Captured

Every season, color says more than we give it credit for—and this year in Milan, it spoke with clarity and confidence.

We’re excited to release Tonalità Viva, a stand-alone color guide excerpted from The Textile Eye – Report 25: Milan in Focus. The guide explores the industy’s current color sensibility through immersive palettes, directional tones, and applications in textile, furniture, and surface design.

Subscribers can access the full color section, including 19 palettes, shades, and treatments, as part of Report 25. For everyone else, Tonalità Viva is available as a standalone purchase—now on the site.

The cover palette—Spettro Indisciplinato…

(Unruly Spectrum)—sets the tone. It is a spectrum, but it skips red entirely and instead moves through yellow, green, turquoise, purple, and magenta-toned pink. Irregular but intentional, it reflects the playful tension we saw across Milan Design Week 2025: precision and whimsy working side by side.

Why You’ll Love Spettro Indisciplinato

This palette embraces color as a dynamic force—unpredictable, expressive, and full of movement. Without a traditional anchor like red, it opens up a fresh spectrum that feels both playful and refined. Whether used to energize upholstery or bring tonal complexity to prints and accessories, Spettro Indisciplinato invites designers to explore unexpected combinations with confidence. It’s a palette that resists symmetry, favoring rhythm over balance.
